Marissa is a graduate of Baylor University School of Law and has been licensed to practice in Texas since 1994. She focuses her practice in Collin and Denton Counties. She gained valuable courtroom experience and management skills as an Assistant Attorney General with the Child Support Division of the Texas Attorney General's Office prosecuting child support cases. Since leaving the Attorney General's Office she has been helping her family law clients navigate the legal system in private practice. She has been litigating cases her entire career, but she is also a trained mediator, and a collaborative attorney. I am a family lawyer with more than twenty years of courtroom experience. I understand the emotional and financial cost of litigating a family case and believe litigation should NOT be the first option in most family law cases. As a collaboratively trained attorney and mediator I believe that there are better options available to resolve family disputes outside of the courtroom. Mediation and Collaborative Law are two of the most powerful options available to a family law client. Both options allow the parties to craft agreements that are in the best interest of the family without stepping foot into a courtroom. The parties can settle legal and financial disputes using a round table approach in the collaborative process with the assistance of a collaborative team of professionals, while being provided the tools to create and maintain a positive co-parenting relationship post separation and divorce.
